BusinessesForSale.com is turning 30 this year, and we’ve got some big plans to celebrate the occasion.
We’ve come a long way from our humble origins as a printed directory of local businesses in the UK. In 2026 we serve more than a million visitors to the site every month, facilitating thousands of deals and helping entrepreneurs around the world make their next move with confidence.
All kinds of businesses have been advertised on the site, from Thwaites & Reed (the 260-year old clockmaking firm which maintains Big Ben) to Hearts of Midlothian Football Club in Scotland. We’ve helped families change their lives by buying a business, and helped ambitious entrepreneurs relocate across the world through acquisition.
A New Look for BusinessesForSale.com
So - what comes next? In May we’ll be introducing a refreshed look for the website, designed to better reflect our global audience and our continued focus on supporting business buyers and sellers.
BusinessesForSale.com will retain all of its existing functionality, but with an updated design that makes browsing more intuitive. The new layout puts discovery front and center, recognizing that many buyers ultimately purchase a different type of business than they initially set out to find. We also aim to make the listing process as straightforward as possible for sellers, brokers, and franchisors.
The rebrand of the site will be launching in May. During the rollout, users will be able to access the updated version in a separate window, with full access to accounts, enquiries, and features. Soon after, the refreshed version will become the primary site.
We hope you like it, and we’d love to hear your feedback on our social media channels. You can find us on LinkedIn, Instagram, X and TikTok.

We’re also excited to introduce The BusinessesForSale.com Podcast, launching alongside the rebrand. New episodes will be released weekly, featuring interviews with standout entrepreneurs and their unique stories.

Episode one features BusinessesForSale.com Chairman Marcus Markou and CEO Andrew Markou, two brothers who founded the company and have been behind the wheel from the beginning. In it they talk about the motivation behind the rebrand, how they launched the site during the dotcom boom of the 1990s, and the trials and tribulations of turning thirty – with some birthday party stories thrown in for good measure. You’ll find a sneak peek of episode one below!
BusinessesForSale.com CEO Andrew Markou says: “As a business we’ve lived through the advent of broadband, the rise of Google and SEO, the prevalence of mobile, and now the advent of AI – which could arguably be the biggest transformation of all. The rebrand is for us to reassess how we present to the world as a thirty-year-old. In dotcom terms, thirty is a dinosaur.”
Chairman Marcus Markou agreed, describing the rebrand as a “ground-up restructuring of the site, to ensure we’re set up for the next thirty years.” He also highlighted how BusinessesForSale.com is evolving from a marketplace into a platform, putting an emphasis on discovery.
“Many people come to BusinessesForSale.com with an idea of what they want to buy and they end up buying something completely different, because they’re going on that journey of self-discovery. I think the rebrand reflects that journey.”
