Guardianship (manages the person)
Is a court appointment that allows a surrogate decision maker to make decisions about medical and living arrangements. For example, someone with dementia who can no longer make informed decisions, so they are unable to make good medical decisions. The guardian consults with the doctor about medical and living decisions. Paid privately through the estate of the protected person. Discontinued in 2022 and 2023. They outsource this function currently due to staffing restraints, but it could be brought back in-house.
Trustee
Is a court appointment. They serve the clients that are in high demand and too small for the banks to serve. Specializing in special needs trusts, revocable, grantor, irrevocable, and estates. The Company manages the trust according to the trust document.
Conservatorship (manages the estate)
Is a court appointment that allows the surrogate decision maker to manage the finances and assets of the estate. They are determined by the courts to be incapacitated. Can purchase/liquidate assets and uses those resources to manage the care of the person and/or maintain them in their current living environment. Pay bills and expenses monthly. Paid privately.
Personal Representative
A Personal Representative (PR) is an individual or institution you place in charge of settling your estate after your death. The Company opens an estate bank account, notify creditors, pay ongoing expenses, liquidate real property, organize an estate sale, liquidate assets, organize tax filings, create an inventory, prepare an estate accounting, and distribute estate assets to the designated heirs.
Mental Health
The Company partners with the local mental health providers throughout the metropolitan area providing representative payee services and related mental health services for individuals diagnosed with a severe persistent mental health disorder.
