This $1,000,000 acupuncture practice performs treatments to a patient roster that includes adults of all ages, adolescents, and infants. The practice is strategically located in a booming urban New York Metropolitan area that is close to major transportation. Services include but are not limited to, specialized treatment plans for fertility, pain, weight loss, digestion, stress, and wellness.
COVID-19 had a significant impact on the operations of the practice during the period of late March through late June 2020. The loss of income was due to the temporary closure mandated by state/city officials. Although closed for three months, the practice still maintained an EBITDA margin of 42% for 2020. 2021 presented some unique challenges. Between two floods and a move at year’s end, the practice was closed for approximately 5 weeks. Despite these closures, an EBITDA Margin of 45% was achieved. 2023 saw increases in both revenue and EBITDA.
Beginning of the second quarter 2021, the practice began offering a new therapy that provides many therapeutic benefits for both men and women. The owners believe they are one of a few select practices in the geographic area they serve that offers this therapy combined with acupuncture.
The practice operates 6 days a week and hours will increase based on patient demand.
Understanding the complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic, the owners’ expectations of value are aligned with the current cash flow and scale versus past performance. Given its new value, the owners believe that the practice would be an excellent investment for an existing practice looking to expand into a prestigious and demographically wealthy area, as well as an opportunity for a graduate of acupuncture looking to establish a foothold in an established practice.
