Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and North and South Dakota are some of the states that make up this region.This area is also sometimes called the Great Plains. A lot of the area is covered by grassland and prairie.

The region is home to extensive cattle ranching and dry farming. There are a few large cities in the Plains like Denver and Oklahoma City but much of the population is rural and spread sparsley across the region.
