Online retail/wholesale dropshippers, are these a hoax?

I have experience in sales and am looking to purchase a business that will allow me the time to take care of my investment properties. I have been on this and most other similar sites and it seems to me that some form of dropshipping ecommerce site might fit my needs. My question is, are any of these truly legitimate? A lot of people make claims but I am looking for an established (3 or more years) business that needs little or no space to operate and that is relocateable as I believe most are. What should I be looking for? am I blinded by what seem to be "easy money" sounding ads or do these exist?
